Lynn Anderson

Lynn Anderson has been a familiar face in the entertainment industry for years. The longevity of this super-star has been reconfirmed by music fans across the world leading her to performances for the Prince of Monaco, the Queen of England and more than one trip to the White House. Loyal fans have bought over 16 million Lynn Anderson albums and industry people have awarded Lynn with numerous awards including Country Female Artist of the Decade & a Grammy for Best Country Vocal for the song she made famous; "Rose Garden."

It's not surprising that this "singer's singer" has such an extensive career. With her beauty, stellar voice, high energy performances, a string of hits and a variety of intriguing interests & social goals, Lynn Anderson is a star.

Lynn was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, September 26, but was raised in northern California. Liz Anderson, Lynn's mother, was a songwriter and on a trip to Nashville to collect a BMI Award for Liz's Merle Haggard hit "(From Now On) All My Friends Are Gonna Be Strangers," Lynn was discovered by Slim Williamson and offered a record deal with Chart Records. She recorded 8 albums with Chart before switching to Columbia Records 4 years later. Columbia seemed to be a natural transition for Lynn and teamed with successful producers and hit songwriters, Lynn became a regular chart topper with songs like "Rose Garden," "Top of the World," "You're My Man," How Can I Unlove You," and "Keep Me In Mind." In recent years Lynn has yielded hits for other labels such as CBS, Mercury and Laser light with songs like "Cry" and "Under The Boardwalk" in the mid 90s.

In all, Lynn has 8 Number One hits, 18 Top Ten records and over 50 Top 40 recordings and duet performances with some of the more successful entertainers like Gary Morris, Dean Martin, Glen Campbell, Tina Turner, Ray Charles, Olivia Newton-John, Tom Jones, Merle Haggard, Wayne Newton, James Brown and the great George Jones (still to be released.) "I still enjoy all my songs," says Lynn Anderson. "Whenever I'm asked what my favorite is, I say 'Rocky Top.' Some people are surprised by that because Rose Garden was a bigger hit for me. But 'Rocky Top' has brought so much happiness to so many people. (My fans) want me to be up-tempo and positive. Which is good, because that's how I usually feel.

"Rocky Top," a song Lynn is widely known for is, televised regularly on football Sundays as the theme song of the state of Tennessee and of UT Champ Peyton Manning. "Top of the World" plays under an ad for NFL/Superbowl equipment and souvenirs. Being an avid football fan, Lynn enjoys the integration of her music with football and often sings the National Anthem at NFL games "cause I get really good seats!"

As her songs are garnering TV play, Lynn is no stranger to the screen herself having made hundreds of appearances. She was the first country singer to appear regularly on network television for The Lawrence Welk Show- an accomplishment for a 17 year old country girl. Other credits include guest starring on Hee Haw, Starsky & Hutch, The Tonight Show, Kraft Music Hall, Midnight Special, and The Glen Campbell Show. She's hosted specials with Tom Jones, Wayne Newton, Bob Hope & Red Skelton, and then hosted her own show and a pilot for a television series. Lynn starred in NBC's movie of the week , Country Gold, with Lonnie Anderson, and is continuing her film career in a soon to be announced upcoming movie.

Not only has Lynn been incredibly popular in the music & entertainment circles, she is also a World Champion Quarter Horse and Cutting Horse rider- showing other stars in Celebrity Cuttings nationwide that she's a real cowgirl- and a spokesperson for the National Handi-capped Riders Association. In the kitchen Lynn's 'Nacho Mama' with a marketed home made Salsa and in the garden- she's the Rose. A signature rose named "Lynn Anderson," which The American Rose Society dedicated in celebration of their 100th Anniversary, was recently featured on the cover of the Weeks Rose Catalog and is winning awards at many national rose shows.

Currently living in a beautiful ranch-style home in New Mexico, Lynn Anderson spends much of her time jockeying concert schedules, riding horses, playing with the dogs and painting. With an album released called "Live at Billy Bob's," Lynn keeps satisfying her fans with some of her classics and several new tunes. "I'm thrilled to have released another CD. It was a marvelous opportunity to make some older songs new again and cut some new songs that I really love."
