When Freddy entered the music business full - time, he perfected
his skills as a live performer and songwriter. He also became a
very busy studio guitarist. His unique guitar licks can be heard
on many of the successful recordings that came out of Atlanta,
including Billy Joe Royal's "Down In The Boondocks."
While touring as Billy Joe's lead guitarist, Freddy was seen
by Paul Revere of PAUL REVERE AND THE RAIDERS, and was asked to
become a member of that superstar group. His first performance with
The Raiders was on the Ed Sullivan Show. While with the group, he
performed major concerts throughout the U.S. and Europe, and was
featured on their weekly Network Television series which lasted
three years.
During his stint with The Raiders, Freddy co-wrote with Tommy
Roe "Dizzy" and "Jam Up And Jelly Tight" - Two multi-million selling
records for Roe. In 1991," Dizzy" was again #1 for two weeks in
England by Vic Reeves & The Wonder Stuff.
Paul Revere was always aware of Freddy's love of Country
Music. So, one day while The Raiders were recording a session in
Los Angeles, some Country sides were produced on Freddy. The rest
is history - his first song out "Games People Play", written
by old Atlanta side - kick Joe South, was released by Columbia as
a Country Artist. Shortly thereafter, while he was touring Europe
with The Raiders, "Games People Play" shot up to #1 on the Country
charts in America. That same year, Freddy was voted "Most Promising
New Male Country Vocalist" by the prestigious Academy of Country
Music.
Freddy continued to perform and record with The Raiders;
however, the rigors of a dual career became too demanding and after
almost six years with The Raiders, he left them and moved back to
Atlanta to pursue his first love - Country Music.
Freddy recorded 11 albums for Columbia Records, one for ABC/
Dot Records and has over 30 highly charted singles to his credit.
Several years ago, he moved to Nashville to be closer to
the Country Music community and to be more involved in songwriting.
In addition to writing much of his own material, Freddy's songs
have been recorded by some of the biggest names in Country Music.
